Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to re-design my entire curriculum?
No need to re-design your entire curriculum. Let’s follow Jay’s advice and follow the 75/25 rule of adapting 25% of your course to begin this work. Keep in my mind, refocusing and redefining coursework does not always mean completely changing everything we do.
I am interested in being on the Task Force, how do members join?
If you would like to attend a meeting to see what is happening, please reach out to Shannon at shannon.sleeper@maine.edu.
Is experiential learning not a good fit for certain disciplines?
Experiential learning fits in every discipline. Our work with Dr. Jay Roberts helps us to see how every discipline can implement experiential learning in course structure, pedagogical methods, and authentic assessments.
There is so much to learn, where can I start?
Starting to explore experiential learning will be different for everyone. We have Dr. Jay Roberts’ text, Experiential Education in the College Context, which is a great jumping off point. Also, explore our resources within the Center for Teaching and Learning.
