The Phair House, viewed here in c.1960, was constructed sometime in the 1890’s. In 1944 the New England Telephone & Telegraph purchased the house. It was then known as the “Bellstead”,  it formally housed the local telephone operators.  It was then called Bellstead.

The social security building was build in 1969.
