Campus Voices : Katelynne Robertson

Posted by Heather Nunez-Olmstead | Sep 25, 2025 | News | 0 |

by Waylon Jones, Staff Writer

Katelynne Robertson, 18, is a freshman from Herndon, Virginia. Katelynne explained that volleyball played a massive role in her decision to choose the University of Maine at Presque Isle. She was eager to continue her athletic career and also liked UMPI’s smaller, more personal community compared to her larger high school back home.

So far, the transition from high school to college has been smooth. Katelynne enjoys her classes, especially a senior-level English course that challenges her in new ways. While balancing her schedule with work, volleyball, and classes has been tough, she finds it rewarding.

Katelynne is most excited for the volleyball season to open in October, as well as continuing in her writing theory class, where she values the one-on-one discussion environment. She’s also active in the Education Club and serves as a writing tutor on campus.

A significant personal goal she has set is improving her time management. With her busy schedule, she’s aiming to avoid late-night homework sessions and stay more organized.

She summed up her first impression of UMPI in three words: pretty, welcoming, and friendly. Coming from a fast-paced area near Washington, D.C., she has noticed how warm and kind people are here.  This  has made her feel right at home.
