Psychology Club To Return to UMPI

The Psychology Club is returning to the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI). Whether you are a psychology major or simply curious about the subject, the club welcomes anyone with an interest in psychology to get involved.
Starting a new club at UMPI requires several steps. Students, staff, or faculty with an idea must visit the Student Activities and Engagement Office to pick up the official student organization registration forms, complete them, and submit them. A minimum of five interested participants is also required. From there, organizers hold a preliminary meeting to spark interest, establish goals, and draft a constitution that outlines the club’s rules and structure.
The Psychology Club is in its final stage of this process, preparing to bring psychology-focused activities, discussions, and opportunities back to the UMPI community.
The club will be primarily student-led by passionate psychology majors dedicated to making this vision a reality. Among them are Alex Olmstead, Michaela Waldrop, and Lexy Whitmore, who have taken the reins in organizing and guiding the club’s return.
Olmstead, Waldrop, and Whitemore spoke about the advantages of joining the club: “It’s a great opportunity when applying to grad school, offers a chance to explore your major or interest, and there are possible travel opportunities!”
Additionally, they mentioned that they are a laid-back group. Missing a meeting is okay!
“We want to provide opportunities for people who are in our field.” Olmstead said.
For those interested in joining, you can visit the club in Pullen 215 on Tuesdays from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Thursdays from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm.
“If you want to do something, then pitch it. Don’t be scared to talk. We love brainstorming here.”
With excitement building, the Psychology Club looks forward to welcoming new members and providing a space for students to explore psychology beyond the classroom.
