Campus Voices: David Herlihy

Posted by belendougherty | Sep 28, 2025 | News | 0 |

by Waylon Jones, Staff Writer

David Herlihy, 19, is an Elementary Education major from Howland, ME. He chose the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) after transferring from Northern Maine Community College (NMCC), where he had already spent a year adjusting to living independently. With several friends already at UMPI and a love for Presque Isle itself, he felt continuing his education here was the right fit. Prior college experience made the transition to UMPI smooth. He’s most excited to join the Education Club this semester, where he hopes to connect with others in his major and prepare for his future career. He set a personal goal to make the Dean’s List every year, a challenge he’s determined to meet through hard work and consistency. If he had to describe UMPI in three words, David would choose interesting, exciting, and eventful. He’s been pleasantly surprised by the variety of students and their majors, and he appreciates how activities on campus bring people together in fun and meaningful ways.
