UMPI recently is developing the final draft of the UMPI Campus Master Plan. The purpose of the campus master plan is to optimize the use of resources to carry out and advance the best campus service by informing decision-making as regards amenities and surroundings. As Benjamin Shaw, chief business officer, said by email, “Campus Master Plan will establish a framework for future improvements across the campus, and serve as a navigational tool as we progress into the future.”
According to the final draft of the UMPI Campus Master Plan, UMPI has decided to take immediate action. And the most prominent thing about UMPI development is the food service. Now there will be a food department in an effort to strengthen food quality and raise food taste.
First, the UMPI cafeteria will have a buffet model, and it will add more steps in food choice. It will provide a set menu: three levels when you are eating at the cafeteria. One is that you can eat what you want to eat on the buffet side. The second is that you can order your food choice from the individual daily menu. The last one is that you will get a dessert menu for what you would like.
Second, the breakfast in the cafeteria will remain the same because most breakfast feedback is good.
The food department now is still on the way to design the different daily menus. But the UMPI cafeteria has already identified three special food menus that will be provided. These lists will all work together with the buffet. You can order what you want from it.
1.The sushi bar will revolve around the cafeteria on Monday’s list.
(Appetizers & Tempura: Miso soup. Vegetable Tempura. Shrimp Tempura. Fried Oysters.)
(Sushi Roll: Spicy Tuna Roll. California Roll. Salmon Roll. Maine Lobster Roll.)
2.Churrasco is coming to the cafeteria on Thursday’s menu.
(The selections of meats – Chicken Wrapped in Bacon Picanha. Picanha with Garlic. Baby Picanha. Top Sirloin. Flank Steak. Pork Loin. Pork Sausage. Lamb Leg. Lamb Chops. Filet Mignon. Filet Mignon With Bacon Beef Ribs. )
3.The Chinese taste will come together Friday.
(There will be various choices: Beijing Roasted Duck. Fried Tomatoes With Eggs. Sauteed Shredded Pock With Green Pepper. Seasonal Vegetables. Steamed Whole Fish. Kun Pao Chicken. Beef Tendon Tips in Spicy Sauce.)
Third, the dessert menu will cooperate with Lady M, which creates the freshest and most beautiful handmade cakes. Lay M cakes have led to a loyal following by New York City and Los Angeles’ top restaurants. Now the UMPI cafeteria has got three cake delivery options: Green Tea Mille Crepes, Chocolate Mille Crepes and Coconut Mille Crepes. Also, the UMPI cafeteria will the profits from all homemade cake sales to provide for students. It will be the best dessert in Presque Isle.
“Now, we are just in the primary stage of rebuilding our cafeteria. We only have three specified menus. We still need four more for the weekly eating schedule. We’d like to listen to all people’s suggestions, do something new and get improved,” Sheryl Foster, cashier-Hostess in the cafeteria, said.
If you have any more suggestions, please come by the UMPI cafeteria, the second floor of the Campus Center, and the food department will listen to you.
