You will have opportunities for many new experiences here at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. One way to maximize your potential is to make being career ready an integral part of your education. The Office of Career Readiness located in Preble Hall can assist you whether you are a first-year student, a returning student or a student in your final year.
Not sure what to major in? Our Career Readiness program can help you identify your abilities and interests, explore career options and help you define your career goals so that you can select the right major for you. Want real experiences? Internships, Field Experiences, Practicums, Volunteer Opportunities and Resume Building Work Experiences offer the potential for valuable learning opportunities outside of the classroom setting. These experiences can serve as a bridge between the traditional academic setting and the professions that our students aspire to. It is our goal at the University of Maine at Presque Isle for all students to gain at least one of these valuable experiential career-learning activities while they are students with us. The Office of Career Readiness can help you in finding these opportunities.
Our new and exciting Campus to Career Initiative Campus to Career Distinguished Graduate program is in its third year. The program uses curriculum development, academic/professional advising, co-curricular and career preparation to help our students in the articulation of the value of your degrees and improve your post-college outcomes. Twenty-three students have participated in the program and were awarded Campus to Career Distinguished Graduate Status. Any seniors eligible for graduation in fall 2018 or spring 2019 are invited to participate.
When you are ready for your job search, to get help in writing a dynamic resume, develop your professional portfolio, learn job search strategies, get employers’ contacts and information on job postings, come see us. Full-time, part-time, temporary and volunteer positions are available. Some employers even provide students the opportunity to have preliminary interviews right here on campus.
