You will have opportunities for many new experiences here at the University of Maine at Presque Isle. One way to maximize your potential is to make being career ready an integral part of your education. The Office of Career Readiness (formerly the Office of Career Preparation & Employer Relations) located in Preble Hall room 238B can assist you whether you are a first year student, a returning student or a student in their final year.

Not sure what to major in?  Our Career Readiness program can help you identify your abilities and interests, explore career options and help you define your career goals so that you can select the right major for you.  Want real experiences?  Internships, Field Experiences, Practicums, Volunteer Opportunities and Resume Building Work Experiences offer the potential for valuable learning opportunities outside the classroom setting. These experiences can serve as a bridge between the traditional academic setting and the professions that our students aspire to. It is our goal at the University of Maine at Presque Isle for all students to gain at least one of these valuable experiential career learning activities while they are students with us. The Office of Career Readiness can help you in finding these opportunities.

When you are ready for your job search, turn to us to get help in writing a dynamic resume, develop your professional portfolio, learn job search strategies and get employers’ contacts and information on job postings. Our job board is updated weekly and located in the waiting area of suite 238 Preble Hall. Full-time, part-time, temporary and volunteer positions are available. Some employers even provide students the opportunity to have preliminary interviews right here on campus.  Additionally, there is an Experiential Career Learning Experiences board that lists internships, service learning activities and volunteer opportunities.

The Office of Career Readiness offers many programs to help you succeed in entering the job market and excel in your future career.  Look for information on these programs throughout the school year–Blue & Gold Block Party, Etiquette Event, Reverse Career Fair.  We also offer information sessions on Developing Resumes & Cover Letters, Job & Internship Search, Interview Skills, How to Apply for a Federal Job and Graduate School Preparation.
