Reed Art Gallery Hosts Work of PI Writer/Artist/Teacher

by Professor Jen Lynds, UTimes Advisor

Glenna Johnson Smith seldom laid down her pen.

She continued to teach poetry, lead writing seminars, and write her first book, even as she entered her nineties.

It was only fitting that the University of Maine at Presque Isle recognized her perseverance with an exhibition at the Reed Art Gallery in the Center for Innovative Learning.

Johnson Smith, a writer, educator, and long-time citizen of Presque Isle, passed away in 2020.

The exhibition Glenna Johnson Smith: Writer, Artist, Teacher, remains on view from October 4 to November 22, 2024. It includes manuscripts, original artwork, and other mementos. Viewing of the exposition is permitted by individuals during its duration.
