Welcome to the Class of 2023, and welcome to our returning UMPI Owls! The Office of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving works to foster and maintain connections between the campus and our alumni wherever they may be. Working with the UMPI Alumni Association, we seek to create programs that help reunite, support and celebrate our alums. The office also works to garner support for the university through fundraising and organizing the involvement of our alumni network.
When you walk across the stage and move the tassel on your cap, you not only signify your graduation from UMPI, but also your membership in the UMPI Alumni Association. Wear your wings proudly! Once the Office of the Registrar confers your degree, you join thousands of UMPI Alumni around the world.
The UMPI Alumni Association, led by a board elected from the association’s general membership, hosts and supports programs and gatherings on and off campus. The association also works to provide scholarship funds to students. The current board consists of members representing classes from 1964 to 2014. Members of the board take an active role in Homecoming and Commencement planning. We hope that you’ll join us for Homecoming Weekend 2019 here on campus Sept. 26-29. Highlights include athletic competitions, reunion gatherings, community events, fireworks and more. You can find the full schedule online at umpi.edu/homecoming.
Although the University of Maine at Presque Isle receives public funding as part of the University of Maine System, additional funds are often needed to support student scholarships, new technologies and innovative academic programs. In close partnership with the Office of University Advancement and External Affairs, we work to ensure that UMPI has the funds it needs to carry out its mission. Our office works to encourage repeat giving to UMPI, no matter the amount, to directly support programs at the university each year. This year, we’ll be launching a new social fundraising platform to allow Owls and friends of the university to help UMPI and its students with a tap, click or share. You’ll be hearing more about this exciting opportunity in the months to come.
