The 2026 awards ceremony was a great success. Held annually, the event recognizes students for their academic excellence, leadership, and achievements throughout their academic journeys. This year’s ceremony took place in the Campus Center, followed by refreshments and snacks in the cafeteria. In addition to students, faculty and staff members were also recognized for their contributions.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) celebrates the hard work and dedication of its community through this special event. As Dean of Academic Affairs Alana Margeson shared with recipients, “This is a special occasion to celebrate your hard work, dedication, and accomplishments” which is a sentiment that was clearly reflected throughout the evening.

Students, faculty, and staff gathered dressed in smiles creating an uplifting atmosphere filled with excitement. Chairs were arranged facing the stage, where a podium and Zoom screen were set up. A photographer stood ready nearby to capture the memorable moments.

One by one, students were called forward to receive their awards, presented by faculty members in their field or by mentors. A wide variety of awards were handed out throughout the ceremony. For example, Jen Bear of Tobique First Nation, NB, and Ben White of Madawaska, ME, received the “Outstanding Social Work Student Award,” among many other honorees presented that day.

A special congratulations goes out to all the recipients from everyone here at the University Times!
