If you are an UMPI student, you must be familiar with the two beautiful ladies in this picture. In the past month, they are always interacting with each other to make cups of flavored drinks for customers at Starbucks.

The University of Maine at Presque Isle opened Starbucks for the spring semester on Tuesday, Jan. 17. It not only offers coffees but also has some sandwiches, salads or fresh fruit. It appears that so many customers come from UMPI and even from Downtown.

“We average 75 to 100 cups a day not included in Late Night hours (official Late Night hours are 7:30 to 10:30 p.m from Monday to Thursday),” Sheryl Foster, a barista at Starbucks, said. “The most popular drink is FRAPPUCCINO. Most customers like to order Jada Chip Frappuccino and Strawberry Frappuccino.”

Chris Robbins is the other Starbucks’ barista.  The two women make a perfect team.  Sometimes they both make beverages.  At other times one inputs the orders and takes the money while the other makes the drinks. Then they’ll switch.  They cooperate to provide toop-notch service.

Many customers who are UMPI students are accustomed to buying a cup of something before or after a meal. Also, after ending a late class, students can order a meal–chicken wings or fries–always with a cup of a classic coffee.

Nancy Tian is a regular at Starbucks. “It is exciting to have an express Starbucks at the campus center. It is very convenient for our normal life. This Starbucks is unique in Presque Isle because it is the only one in this town. I like strawberry cream frappuccino most because it is such tasty milk foam with cream and it is smooth inside. I like the feeling when I drink it. It always gives me happiness,” she said.

Special thanks to Sheryl Foster and Chris Robbins. They give students a real coffee shop–a real Starbucks! Welcome to Starbucks!

The regular hours for Starbucks and Late Night are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.; Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; closed on Saturday and on Sunday.
