Have you been to Gentle Hall this semester? Many people at UMPI would say yes. Gentle Hall is always filled with people. Students and employees release stress and train their bodies there. Working out should be a good way to lead you to be health.
Timothy Babine did a presentation for University Day called “Redefining Fitness” that introduced the importance of overall health and fitness. He explained the differences between split routines, full body and anterior-posterior chain routines. Finally, he told us the benefits we can gain from introducing anterior-posterior chain routines.
People may not familiar with these terms. In his explanation, Tim said that split routine means isolation workouts. We only train the isolated muscle groups. In terms of the full body routine, it means engaging the entire body in a single workout. The posterior chain refers to the muscles located on the back half of your body. On the other hand, anterior chain refers to the muscles located on the front half of your body. To make those terms easy to understand, Babine presented those concepts through his body to the audience, which is a good method to help us understand his presentation. At the same time, his presentation was filled with fun.
Babine pointed out that much research has pointed out the meaning and benefits of lower and upper split routines and full body routines. During his presentation, he said, “Through my time here in UMPI, I’ve actually come to discover with my own research that split routines and full body routines are actually not a viable safe way to improve your physical health. I’m going be arguing on why that is and also, I will introduces the interior and exterior workouts and why they are both viable ways to increase our health.”
The presentation lasted at least an hour. Babine was so great to finish it by himself, which meant that he had to put more effort into it than others who were part of groups did. “Redefining Fitness is a collaborative research project that I’ve done over the entire semester,” Babine said.
Thanks for Babine’s work. His presentation led us to know the definition of fitness better. Let’s say congratulation for his effort.
