What do you think of when you think of the holiday season? Most people would say gathering with friends and family, the cold weather and the food. If you’re attending a holiday party or gathering or just craving a sweet treat during the chilly months, this recipe is for you! This quick and easy recipe only takes about 30 minutes to prep and cook. (The best part is that it’s vegan AND allergy friendly!)

What you’ll need:

Crinkle Cookies

1 cup Dutch-process cocoa powder

2 cups sugar

½ cup vegetable oil

¾ cup applesauce

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon peppermint extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

2½ teaspoons baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons peppermint candies, crushed

Sugar Coating

½ cup granulated sugar

½ cup powdered sugar

How to Make It:

First, combine the flour, salt, and baking powder in a small bowl and put it off to the side.

Next, mix the cocoa powder, sugar, applesauce, oil and extracts until it’s all evenly distributed. Add in the crushed peppermint candies and then the flour mixture until everything is all evenly distributed.

Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and put it in the fridge for 4 hours.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, and line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Place the two sugars in different bowls.

Take the dough out of the fridge and roll it into balls about the size of a tablespoon and toss each one in the granulated sugar and then the powdered sugar until they’re fully coated.

Cook for 12-13 minutes. After taking them out of the oven, let them cool for a few minutes then move them to a wire rack to fully cool.

I hope you all enjoy this recipe and this wonderful Holiday Season!!
