Presque Isle, ME—Houlton has claimed the epicenter of the solar eclipse that will occur on April 8, 2024. However, students studying at the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI), which is situated one hour away from Houlton, can also witness a total solar eclipse.
The university is organizing activities for students and the community to commemorate this solar galactic event. Rachel Rice, the director of marketing and communications, issued a press release that included a detailed solar flier highlighting the various events available during the day.
The official debut of the three-dimensional sun will occur in front of South Hall. This move will complete the Maine Solar System Model that traverses 100 miles of Route 1. Students at UMPI will have front-row seats for the official debut.
