It is proven that students find college more rewarding and do better in class if they are involved with some type of out-of-class activity. As a part of the UMPI community, I hope you will take advantage of the variety of programs, services and activities available to you at Gentile Hall.
All you need to do is get your student ID validated at the business office with currentsemester and Gentile Hall stickers. Then, just stop by the Gentile Hall front desk and present yourvalidated ID.
Gentile Hall offers a multipurpose gymnasium, fitness center with cardio and strengthequipment, as well as free weights. There is also a 25 yard swimming pool, 37 foot climbing wall,bouldering wall and elevated walking and jogging track.
Keli Marston, fitness and wellness coordinator, will be offering her already very popularFit Camp and Step and Tone programs, while Amanda Baker, our recreation coordinator and outingclub manager, also offers a Water Aerobics class. These are all free for students
Watch for Keli’s walk around campus with a stop at Starbucks for coffee on Sept. 8 and Week of Wellness events scheduled for Sept. 25-29. There will be orientations to the fitness center equipment, an introduction to “Fusion,” a new class combining yoga, pilates and barre,blood pressure screenings, bosu ball training class, a presentation on the importance of sleep. Andagain, everything is FREE!. She is always eager to share nutritional information as well.
Weekly gym schedules are posted on both entrances to the multipurpose area. Check forclass times, programs and special events…avoid showing up when the area is in use.
Clubs/groups that use Gentile Hall regularly are the Outing Club, Swim Club, Disc Golf and Ultimate Frisbee Club, Indoor Soccer League and Intramurals.
The Outing Club offers programs for all levels and its members do some really neat afternoon/dayprograms that take place nearby and are either free or at low cost. The club meets in the outing cluboffice located in Gentile Hall, so watch for times and details. It is always looking for newmembers!
Lockers are available for day use. Locks left overnight will be cut and belongings will bebagged and left in the lost and found area in Gentile Hall.
