Halloween is a holiday that is widely celebrated by many different people, and the University of Maine at Presque Isle was not lacking in the Halloween spirit. The Halloween dance was held this year in the multipurpose room in the campus center. It was relatively packed from about 11 p.m. to the end. There were a variety of different costumes. These were as much a major part of the fun and energy of the night as the people who were there wearing them.
The many types of costumes that made their way through the doors and onto the dance floor were very impressive. A giant dinosaur was seen chasing a person with a glow stick around the room for a good portion of the night. There were gentlemen dressed as the four blind mice, who stayed in character quite well, despite being in a dark room full of people. There was even a quite articulately crafted Joker costume. The were butterfly wings, cats and masks of random characters dispersed here and there. It also appeared that a relatively common trend was Tom Cruise’s character from Risky Business. There was such a great level of diversity and creativity that went into the night. Even the more cliche costume appearances such as pirates and skeletons were great in their own way.
“The costumes at the dance were creative and funny,” student Jaden Gosselin said,
As the night progressed on, some people left and others were late showing up and ready to join. Even for those who were not in the center of the dance floor were engaging in conversation off to the sides where they could hear one another. But the loudness of the music also added to the overall feel of the dance, and to most this was a positive thing.
“It was a good turn out and everyone took the Halloween spirit seriously,” student Seth Cropley said.
Overall, this Halloween dance ended up being very entertaining, as well as a great way to end the season that this holiday has continued to bring.
