Whether you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with a partner, a friend, or simply looking for a reason to connect with someone on campus, some of the University Times staff has compiled a list of easy and affordable date ideas right here at UMPI. Christie Oneill, Briana Diaz, Waylon Jones and Isiah Mitchell are excited to share their ideas with you.

Coffee Date

Sometimes the simplest plans are the sweetest. Staff members Mitchell and Diaz recommend meeting at the Owl’s Nest for a relaxed coffee date. Whether you prefer a latte, smoothie, or a sweet treat, the campus café offers a comfortable setting to sit down, catch up, and enjoy each other’s company. It’s an easy way to take a break from busy schedules while still feeling festive.

Study Date

Valentine’s Day falls during a busy time in the semester, but you can still have a special date! Oneill and Mitchell suggest a cozy study date at the CIL. With beanbag chairs and comfortable couches available, the space offers a relaxed environment to tackle assignments together. Studying alongside someone else can provide motivation, fresh perspectives, and accountability!

Walking Date

Looking to stay active? Diaz and Jones recommend a walking date. Grab your sneakers and head to the indoor walking track for a chance to talk while getting your steps in. If indoor laps aren’t your style, a stroll around campus offers fresh air! It’s a simple way to spend quality time together while prioritizing movement and wellness.

No matter how you choose to celebrate, Valentine’s Day on campus can be meaningful without being complicated. Sometimes the best plans are the ones that keep it simple and focus on connecting together!
