Campus Voices–Paizley Legace

Posted by Christie Oneill | Oct 16, 2024 | Arts & Culture, News | 0 |

by Christie Oneill, Staff Writer

The University Times staff is interviewing students across campus as part of our “campus voices” project. Staff writers are profiling faces fresh and familiar to forge stronger relationships within our campus community. Check the UTimes website each week to see each new profile!

Paizley Legace is a first-year student at the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI.) Legace, who commutes to campus, paused for an interview while standing in the late-September sun outside Folsom/Pullen Hall.

“It [college] is much different than high school,” Legace explained, emphasizing the distinction between educational institutions. “Your assignments are due differently, and there is much more online. The professors don’t check in on you; they take your word for it–which is new to me.”

Legace called UMPI “a perfect fit” for her, primarily because the campus is less than an hour away from her home in Perth-Andover, New Brunswick, Canada.  During her time in college, she transformed her study habits to keep pace with her classmates. She encouraged incoming freshmen to “be prepared” for the increased workload.

Legace also credited students, professors, and staff, as her “favorite” part of the UMPI experience.  She looks forward to meeting new people and plans to enter the education field upon graduation.

Welcome to UMPI Paizley!
