So how exciting is it to learn about the upcoming puppy marathon? It will be held here at UMPI. UMPI\u2019s very own psychology professor, Dr. Paul Johnson Jr., will be hosting it. Better yet, it will be something to look forward to after finals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Though Johnson has never hosted a marathon before, he has a lot of knowledge about them. Johnson said, \u201cYou have to worry about chafing on the puppies and humans. Be sure to use Vaseline.\u201d Johnson spoke very lightheartedly about this upcoming event. In his own words, \u201cI\u2019m absolutely excited!\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0And now, some more information about this puppy marathon. Though the exact date is not yet confirmed, Johnson said, \u201cDefinitely after mud season. We don\u2019t want the puppies to get distracted.\u201d He said, \u201cThere will be at least three hundred puppies.\u201d He also said, \u201cThere are going to be divisions for different breeds and ages. And then there will be prizes for the different categories.\u201d So, expect to see a multitude of different puppies!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Johnson has some advice about which puppies to root for. \u201cRoot for the weird, funny-looking dogs,\u201d and \u201cExpect the unexpected.\u201d He also said, \u201cIt\u2019s the ones that you don\u2019t expect to win, that look out of place.\u201d So, watch for the odd puppies, the ones with short legs or the ones with smushed noses. Or even puppies with both.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0There are some students buzzing about this event. Kristin Ray said, \u201cI wouldn\u2019t miss it for the world! I\u2019m so excited. I\u2019ve never seen anything like it!\u201d Mark Robichaud said, \u201cI heard it was pretty cool, and I\u2019m going to bring my family.\u201d Another student, Jacob Mondor, said, \u201cI\u2019m rooting for golden retrievers. They\u2019re the best.\u201d Ray is rooting for chihuahuas. She said, \u201cThey\u2019re the underdogs. They\u2019re so small and short.\u201d Robichaud is putting his hopes on pugs and dachshunds. His reasoning is that, \u201cThey\u2019re so cute.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Any UMPI student looking to go to this event will not have to pay any admission fees. There will be concessions. Those will not be free. Outside guests will have to pay a fee. It is $5 for adults, $3 for children and teenagers. It will be free for babies and toddlers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Students can look forward to this event right around the time that finals begin rolling around. It will be a sight to see, and most definitely one of the cutest events that UMPI has held.
