\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>UMPI\u2019s annual awards ceremony to celebrate its hardworking students, staff and faculty took place on April 22 in the MPR on campus this year. Emotional speeches from proud educators warmed the crowd and filled award recipients with joy and satisfaction for all of their hard work. Well-organized and well-attended small speeches between awards filled the air as smiling faces filled the many seats in the audience.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Deborah Hodgkins, an English professor at UMPI who attended the event to present awards for her department, enjoyed the event. \u201dIt\u2019s not often that we get the chance to publicly recognize students,\u201d she said. \u201cThis is our opportunity to congratulate students on their achievements.\u201d \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>UMPI senior Monica Hewitt attended the event to receive her English Book Award and Outstanding Achievements in PCJ Award. She was impressed by the event. \u201cIt\u2019s a really great way to recognize individuals\u2019 achievements.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>This ceremony is a positive one, filled with kind words and appreciation. Recognizing hardworking members of the UMPI community is important, especially with all that they do.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cI think it gives people encouragement, that their hard work pays off,\u201d Hewitt said.<\/p>\n
