\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Although this may sound like a new way of socializing, it was actually a presentation by Monica Hewitt, one of Dr. J\u2019s students. First she talked with us about what she has learned from her PCJ classes and what she has gained from them.\u00a0 <\/span>She has worked with the community, done real-world projects and prepared products, practiced outreach and built relationships.\u00a0 <\/span>Second, she discovered her passions through these classes. She learned what she wants to do with her degree, tried different things and found her niche and her talents.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Then she told us some things about her internship, such as how to work for a client.\u00a0 <\/span>First, she needed to figure out what the client needed, then learned how to properly convey a message.\u00a0 <\/span>Finally, she needed to learn to be a good team player. She worked for Congressman Bruce Poliquin. This gave her the opportunity to give back to community, helped her to advance her communication skills and gave her the chance to network and make some connections. She did not work in a campaign office.\u00a0 <\/span>This office helps anyone they can, regardless of political affiliation. They always create and maintain relationships, reach out and follow up, then listen and be attentive.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Monica said, \u201cI did this talk because I want people to know about a really great internship opportunity. It\u2019s also important that people know that the Congressman has other offices that focus specifically on helping the community and that are not campaign-related. I love being able to help the community in this way.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>How did Monica feel about her presentation?\u00a0 <\/span>She said, \u201cI felt really good after this presentation. People seemed really interested and I was happy to be able to share my experiences with them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Audience members learned a lot from Monica.\u00a0 <\/span>Many did not know that members of Congress and of the Senate are there to help and serve all those of their districts, regardless of personal beliefs.\u00a0 <\/span>They now know of another resource to tap if they are ever in need.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
