then President Richard Nixon\u2019s political career.\u00a0 Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein wrote the story for The Washington Post.\u00a0 The story was not being reported or investigated by any other media company.\u00a0 Both men played a large role in showing the American people why freedom of the press is written into the United States Constitution.\u00a0 By allowing for the freedom of the press, citizens can hold their government to the same principals that it holds its people to.\u00a0 During Nixon\u2019s presidency, journalism was being threatened.\u00a0 Had the duo failed, journalism could look very different today.\u00a0 The American people may not have the same rights and freedoms they do today.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Two novice journalists, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, became national stars when they broke the Watergate scandal.\u00a0 The two journalists from The Washington Post have their safety and lives threatened in their investigation uncovering the story.\u00a0 Had they not succeeded, Richard Nixon might have finished his second election term and spying on political opponents could have become the norm in modern American politics.\u00a0 Watch them on their journey as they struggle to uncover the story.\u00a0 Bernstein, Woodward, and the Post are fighting for the importance of having freedom of the press.\u00a0 The two hit roadblock after roadblock from sources who begin to talk, but then change their attitude very quickly, to editors not believing in their story.\u00a0 Thanks to their work, however, they proved that nobody is above
