Comedian Dulce\u0301 Sloan brings laughter to Wieden Auditorium on November 18.<\/p><\/div>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>It was a night of laughs in Wieden auditorium on the night of Nov. 18. With a dusting of snow on the ground, comedian Dulc\u00e9 Sloan, clad in an oversized Cabela\u2019s zip-up hoodie and boots, traveled all the way from New York City to Presque Isle to bring some comedy to northern Maine.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>\u201cI thought Dulc\u00e9 Sloan was pretty funny. Her first 10 minutes or so had me laughing hysterically,\u201d Christian Mumley, UMPI sophomore, said. \u201cAfter that it dialed back, but it was a good show overall.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Sloan\u2019s comedy generally revolved around some of her time at Brenau University, an all-women\u2019s college, and her search for a husband. She also told about some of her time living in a tiny apartment where she didn\u2019t have a personal bathroom and only a small kitchenette. To demonstrate how small her apartment was, she even invited four people from the crowd up on stage and set them up on different corners. Between sliding down the stairs in her sorority at college and her ongoing search for a partner, Sloan filled the auditorium with continual laughter from both students and community members who came out to be entertained on a cold November night.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>\u201cI\u2019m not sure if it was a specific joke,\u201d Mumley said when asked what he most enjoyed about the show. \u201cBut when she started talking about college and her experiences, it was kind of relatable since we are all in college.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>\u201cI think she did pretty good,\u201d Sarah Draper, also an UMPI sophomore, said. \u201cI would probably rate a seven out of 10.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Sloan was one of TimeOut LA\u2019s Top Comics to Watch for 2017 and the winner of the 2016 Big Sky Comedy Festival. She\u2019s also been on \u201cThe Daily Show with Trevor Noah,\u201d \u201cLate Night with Conan O\u2019Brien\u201d and \u201cThe Steve Harvey Show.\u201d<\/p>\n
