\u00a0 <\/span>Another semester rolls around and meal plans continue to be a mandatory expense.\u00a0 <\/span>What are you paying for? Few changes have been made to the quality of service Sodexo provides, and students remain disappointed. The least expensive meal plan here costs $1600 a semester.\u00a0 <\/span>It includes 10 meals a week and $150 to spend at Starbucks or the Simply to Go market.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Alyssa Sinclair is a sophomore here.\u00a0 <\/span>You may remember her from last semester.\u00a0 <\/span>Since last semester, she has made the decision to go vegan.\u00a0 <\/span>This decision, coupled with her food allergies, makes finding a nutritious meal at the cafeteria an onerous task.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cThere are hardly any vegan options.\u00a0 <\/span>They\u2019re pathetic, honestly,\u201d Sinclair said.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Vegan options for breakfast are limited to just fruit and oatmeal every day.\u00a0 <\/span>Breakfast costs $5.71 without a meal plan.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>The menu for Sept. 25 lists the options Sinclair and other vegans have to choose from.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>For lunch, butternut squash, green beans and saut\u00e9ed rainbow Swiss chard are listed.\u00a0 <\/span>The Swiss chard failed to make an appearance at lunch.\u00a0 <\/span>Lunch costs $7.87 without a meal plan.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>For dinner, saut\u00e9ed broccoli and garlic is listed.\u00a0 <\/span>Dinner is $9.71 without a meal plan.\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>\u201cSo I can have vegetables, and only vegetables, every single day,\u201d Sinclair said.\u00a0 <\/span>Sodexo has a wider variety of vegetarian options, but normally the only source of protein comes from meat. \u00a0 <\/span>Beans and tofu are sometimes served, but Sinclair remains unsatisfied. \u201cThe tofu tasted like nothing.\u00a0 <\/span>It was unseasoned and undercooked.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>\u201cThe poor quality and service is unacceptable,\u201d Interim Dean of Students Vanessa Pearson said.\u00a0 <\/span>Pearson has been working with President Rice and Sodexo to resolve the issues students have with the food service.\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cWe\u2019re planning on having an open forum with Sodexo.\u00a0 <\/span>We want to hear feedback from students.\u201d<\/p>\n
