It\u2019s been quiet around campus lately and we are so excited to have you all here for the beginning of fall semester. We hope you\u2019re as excited as we are to jump right in!\u00a0<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The Office of Student Activities oversees 36 clubs and organizations as well as puts on a number of exciting events, programs and activities for students and the community throughout the academic year&#8211;there really is something for everyone! UMPI students are involved in cultural, social, academic, musical, religious, athletic, artistic and so many more leadership-developing and horizon-broadening activities and organizations both on and off campus.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Student Activities Office Mission Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Student Activities Office at the University of Maine at Presque Isle complements the academic experience by fostering student learning and development through social, educational and cultural events and programs. The SAO strives to enhance the students\u2019 individual character and citizenship, institutional spirit and sense of community, and respect for human difference.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Student Activities Office Commitment Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><u>Our commitment begins with:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Engagement<\/strong>: To engage students by serving as a resource, offering activities, and providing opportunities for leadership development. Through involvement students will explore new ideas and interests, be exposed to diverse perspectives and beliefs, and create meaningful relationships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>That engagement leads to:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Empowerment<\/strong>: To empower students to take initiative, make positive decisions, and become successful leaders. Students will build self-confidence, learn how to overcome adversity, and act on issues they value.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>That empowerment leads to:<\/u><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Enrichment<\/strong>: To enable and inspire students to enrich the lives of individuals locally, nationally, and internationally. Students will be socially responsible and committed to serving the greater good.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><u>These efforts culminate in civically responsible individuals who are motivated to make a difference<\/u><em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>We have a full schedule of campus programs and student group events set for fall semester. Keep an eye out around campus, read the weekly Toilet Talk, check out the calendar outside of the Student Activities Office or ask a friend what is going on around campus&#8211;there will always be something!<\/p>\n<p>With events that promote learning, leadership development and fun, who wouldn\u2019t want to become involved on campus?
