Spring break is right around the corner. For many students this means a chance to catch up on school work, family time or take a mental break. Although, for the students on the UMPI baseball team they have a full week of hard work and dedication ahead! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The team is travelling to Florida after a year hiatus from going down state for games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Waylon Jones, a student-athlete on the team, said he feels confident heading into the upcoming games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI feel pretty good going into the games coming up,\u201d Jones said. \u201cI\u2019m excited to experience everything and be back home in a way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the team\u2019s travels, Jones also spoke with several teammates about their thoughts on the trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Brock Black said the opportunity to play baseball in Florida is something he has been looking forward to for a long time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m probably the most excited I\u2019ve ever been,\u201d Black said. \u201cIt\u2019s awesome to have the opportunity to go play baseball in Florida. At the same time, you get away from the snow and the cold for a little bit and enjoy some warm weather.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Black added that he is also hoping to see some wildlife while visiting the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019d like to see a crocodile or an armadillo,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Romeo Harris said the trip brings a mix of emotions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m a little excited and a little nervous,\u201d Harris said. \u201cBut mostly I\u2019m excited. It\u2019s nice to go back home, play games and finally get back to playing baseball.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hayden Coury said he is ready for both the sunshine and the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\u2019m really excited to get out into some sun,\u201d Coury said. \u201cI\u2019m ready for the games.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
