For Brock Black, baseball was the reason he chose the University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI). Black, 18, is an accounting major from Woodstock, New Brunswick. Education is what\u2019s keeping him here. As a freshman, he\u2019s found UMPI to be a great place to grow both academically and athletically. 
The transition from high school to college has gone smoothly so far, though the workload has been a big adjustment. \u201cMy teachers back home weren\u2019t lying about how much university work I\u2019d have,\u201d Brock admitted, \u201cbut I\u2019m keeping up. There\u2019s also lots to do here, always activities going on, so it\u2019s a great place to be.\u201d 
When it comes to what he\u2019s most excited about, baseball is at the top of his list. He\u2019s also enjoying his Business 101 class with Professor Reed Nonken, which has made the start of his academic journey even more rewarding. 
Brock\u2019s personal goal at UMPI is meaningful but straightforward: to become the best version of himself. \u201cI don\u2019t really have a specific goal set out. I\u2019m just trying to better myself every day,\u201d he said. 
If he had to describe UMPI in three words, Brock chose small, fun, and busy. Though the campus community is close-knit, he\u2019s been impressed by how active and lively life at UMPI really is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
