{"id":11746,"date":"2025-08-08T12:39:46","date_gmt":"2025-08-08T16:39:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wp.umpi.edu\/utimes\/?p=11746"},"modified":"2025-08-08T12:39:47","modified_gmt":"2025-08-08T16:39:47","slug":"nostalgia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wp.umpi.edu\/utimes\/2025\/08\/08\/nostalgia\/","title":{"rendered":"Nostalgia"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-1 wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>by Belen Dougherty, Staff Writer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-2 wp-block-paragraph\">Nostalgia comes like the dewy late summer mornings,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-3 wp-block-paragraph\">Brisk and cool, whispering softly \u201csummer is still here\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-4 wp-block-paragraph\">but I feel it slowly slipping away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-5 wp-block-paragraph\">I take a deep breath and smell the sweet wet green grass while&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-6 wp-block-paragraph\">my eyes sweep through the rhythmic colors the sun brushes through<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-7 wp-block-paragraph\">my backyard, immersing me in the fall days ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-8 wp-block-paragraph\">I hesitate. I am not ready. I\u2019m in between.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-9 wp-block-paragraph\">Between burning marshmallows on the crackling fire<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-10 wp-block-paragraph\">and back to school shopping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-11 wp-block-paragraph\">The sun goes to bed a little earlier. The kids are still<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-12 wp-block-paragraph\">restless, begging to stay up late.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-13 wp-block-paragraph\">In this moment, as I stand still, summer passes through me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-14 wp-block-paragraph\">I see, feel, hear the season\u2019s air crackling with change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-15 wp-block-paragraph\">Once again time moves through me like the seasons move through time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-16 wp-block-paragraph\">So I stay here in this fleeting moment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Belen Dougherty, Staff Writer Nostalgia comes like the dewy late summer mornings, Brisk and cool, whispering softly \u201csummer is still here\u201d&nbsp; but I feel it slowly slipping away.
