Tram stop
This is my tram stop, near the Geology Building. The trains are quite frequent.
Pizza
The upstairs neighbors and I went out for pizza. Here are Agniezka, Maja and Jeremie.
“Szczecin International” Rotary Club
This is my local Rotary Club, there are about twenty members attending here. One of three Rotary Clubs in Szczecin, this one speaks English. Many young members, that do good work.
Alien car?
Just to show that nonsense can be found everywhere; here an Alien is used in advertising (sorry, do not know what is being advertised).
Flower Shop
Poles LOVE (Kocham, pronounced Koham) flowers. There are about six private stalls on this corner, and flower shops are everywhere.
The toilet
Water is a limited resource in much of Europe. The faucet water is not pure and so people drink and cook with bottled water. The toilets are designed to reduce water use and there are separate buttons for a “hard” (#2) or “soft” (#1) flush (the ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ terms are my own, not local use). American toilets waste a great deal of water; we should use more efficient toilets such as these.
Neighbor’s Garden
My upstairs neighbor (górą sąsiad) took me to her garden. She raises raspberries (melini), apples (jabki) and grapes (winegrona). Many people have gardens behind their apartments.
Department store in the mall
I have gone to the department store to get a mobile phone (Yes, Kevin will have a cell phone!). IN the mall is this department store, named “Saturn.”
Flea Market
During my first weekend there was a flea market in a park near my apartment. I bought an antique trivet (base for an old iron) from the lady in the second picture.
