Come and Play in the Clubhouse

What WUPI has to offer students?

  • Top 40/Variety is our music format for our listeners. Our variety in the variation of music starts with our DJs. Public speaking starts here. Voice your opinion in using expression through music.  Interest in being a voice of the County, come and play. Whether hosting a show or learning about broadcasting, we can help you on your way. Learn to produce music, programming, the importance of PSA, laws, and regulations, radio etiquette, or expand your knowledge of music. We have a passion for music and love to share it with others. WUPI requires enrollment in the University of Maine at Presque Isle for access to the station and to be allowed to have independent broadcasts. We are always willing to hear new and innovated genres.  Ready to get your heart jumping and have some good clean fun;  call the station manager or email at wupi@maine.edu.
  • DJs, generally, donate one to three hours every week for participation in their show. There are positions available within the radio station which involve members dedication to WUPI in responsible roles such as music director, technical engineer, PSA director, programmer, etc.  Our mandatory club meetings are TBA.  If for some reason you are unable to attend there will be a mock meeting for participating in club events. Please, contact the station manager or adviser before the meeting to obtain an event schedule, listing of monthly shows, available show time slots, and public/news information.  If you do not attend three meetings in one semester, your time at WUPI will come to an end.
  • All new DJ’s/show hosts are closely evaluated during the production of their first three shows.  The station manager or affiliated of WUPI will stay to promote excellent communication skill in your show, give any pointers or tips throughout for guidance to excellent broadcasting.  The station manager has the right at any point to terminate people who do not follow the rules and regulations or violate the FCC standards during their tenure.
  • WUPI would love to hear from our COMMUNITY MEMBERS.  Anyone interested in viewing the station is always welcome to stop to be a DJ for a minute or stay and watch the professionals. We are always looking to interview the community and campus personnel for community events.  For an interview, please make an appointment with station personnel or contact the station manager at 768-9565 (don’t be shy, leave a message).  We would love to hear what you have to say about what we do.
